The Run of the Mill Folk Dance Club
Thank you to everyone who came to our End of Season party on 26th July
The evening raised £250 for Derbyshire Children's Holiday Centre at Skegness
We are now on our short Summer break, and restart on 30th August
A Wednesday evening at Holloway
We are an English Folk Dance Club, founded in 1979, and based in Holloway in the middle of Derbyshire, a few miles from Matlock, Cromford and Crich.
We meet fortnightly on Wednesday evenings. Additionally, we run two Saturday evening dances with a band for music each year, plus an annual costume Playford Ball.
We do English dances ranging from the 17th century to new ones written this year, plus the occasional American, contra or square.
We have around 40 members, with typically about 18 to 22 at a Club evening. We are always keen to welcome new members of any age, each dance is explained, no previous experience of dancing is necessary. You can come as a couple, or on your own - there will be someone for you to dance with.
The Background page explains the types of dance we do, the Info page gives a detailed description of our evenings, a complete list of dates is on the Calendar page, and if you have no idea what this dancing is then the New to dancing page will start you off.
Whether you are an experienced folk dancer, or just looking for something new to try, we look forward to seeing you.
